“From my studio, Regeringsgatan 55, Stockholm” - 1953

The Swedish painter and photographer Rolf Wertheimer (1930–2025) depicts his studio interior at age 23, midway through his studies at the Swedish Royal Academy of Fine Arts. With its dynamic perspective and distinctive mood, this piece is both calm and characterful. On the back wall: “Nice, travail et joie” Henry Matisse, 1949

An accomplished early work by a notable Swedish artist represented in the collections of Moderna Museet and the Stockholm City Museum. Signed lower right, presented in its original frame.
