About the artist
Henri Matisse (1869 - 1954) is commonly regarded as one of the artists who best helped to define the revolutionary developments in the visual arts throughout the opening decades of the twentieth century, responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture. He established his own style with brilliant colour and fluid line. His subjects were primarily women, interiors, and still lifes.
These rare 1946 lithographs associate Matisse’s profound, vibrant colours with beautifully aged paper.
