About the artist

Hannah de Jonge (1997–) is a Canadian artist. With a focus in ceramics, her practice engages with sequences and patterns through wheel-thrown work. Often with an iterative approach, she works with repetition to explore making, altering and arranging pots into sculptural and functional objects.

de Jonge’s interest in ceramics and the craft of production pottery has led her to investigate how patterns in making can enable a greater understanding of an object’s purpose. In promoting a belief for the creative potential of production, she aims to incite questions on how informality and hospitality are qualities often embraced through the use of ceramics.
