About the artist
Eugene Pizzuto (1925 - 2004) was Professor of Drawing and Painting at the University of Washington in Seattle from 1957 to 1993, and served as Head of the Painting Department several years preceding his retirement. A painter of modern abstract landscapes, he nevertheless often worked directly from nature.
An art reviewer once wrote: "Pizzuto''s surety of touch distils each vista into the freshness of spring. Nothing feels laboured or reined in. Clearly, a mature artist''s hand is at work, dashing off drama and magic, responding to gut emotions rather than analysed thoughts."
